Be smart, be kind, be curious
written by CRISTINA TABOADA | JAN 23, 2021
Navigating the complexities of change with poise requires thought, action, and awareness. An inspiring prospect that boils down to being smart, being kind, and being curious.
BE SMART
- Think long term. Purpose keeps you motivated; profit keeps you afloat. A good definition of sustainability is 7 generations.
- Think progress. Know what you want, start where you are, and iterate your way forward.
- Think co-creation. When ideas are jointly developed, engagement comes pre-installed.
BE KIND
- It is what it is. Don’t confuse acceptance with indifference. Acceptance is a deep checking-in; indifference is checking out.
- Try not to judge. Most people—including you—are doing the best they can with what they’ve got.
- Pay it forward. We all got to where we are through the kindness of strangers. Be that kind stranger.
BE CURIOUS
- About yourself. What do you pay attention to? What do you ignore? What are your blind spots?
- About others. Listening until the other person feels seen and heard is the surest way to build connection.
- About the world. Keep an open mind. We can know so much more than we can prove.
